Begin with the pressure relationship
Condensate can leave equipment through a trap only when the available conditions allow discharge into the return system. In a modulating process, equipment pressure may fall while return pressure remains. Describe this operating range, including static lift and return-line conditions, before selecting drainage equipment. A single design-pressure value cannot describe every operating point.
Understand the pump-trap role
An automatic pump-trap combines trapping and pumping functions for the duties described in its manufacturer documentation. APT14 and APT10 are distinct references with model-specific requirements. Their selection needs the condensate load, motive-fluid conditions, discharge conditions and available filling head. The product must be considered as part of the equipment drainage arrangement rather than as an isolated catalogue item.
Understand the mechanical-pump role
MFP14 references identify mechanical pump configurations, while an MFP14-PPU enquiry concerns a defined packaged arrangement. The required receiver, venting, check valves and connected equipment depend on the system design and the supplied scope. Ask which components are included in the proposed package. Do not assume that ordering a pump body supplies an entire engineered condensate-return system.
Compare operating data and scope
For a meaningful comparison, provide condensate flow, the pressure range of the draining equipment, return pressure, lift, motive supply and available installation dimensions. State whether the system is open or closed as specified by the designer. Capacity and suitability should be checked using the relevant manufacturer selection method for the exact model and arrangement.
Prepare the package for review
Send STV the approved process drawing, equipment tags and required scope of supply. Request an itemized quotation for the pump or pump-trap, check valves, isolation valves and any receiver or accessories. Installation must follow the approved project design and the manufacturer instructions.
